Sesame & Soy Glazed Roasted Japanese Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds
Japanese sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons
Sesame oil
1 tablespoon
Maple syrup (optional)
1/2 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon
Red chili pepper flakes
1 tablespoon
Sesame seeds (for topping)
2 tablespoons
Chopped fresh chives (for topping)
OR green onions (for topping)
Step by Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Wash & peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into wedges. Arrange the wedges in a 9 x 13 baking dish.
- Mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup (if using), the garlic powder, and red chili flakes together in a bowl. Drizzle the mixture over the sweet potato wedges and gently toss them to ensure they are well coated.
- Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the sweet potato wedges, put the baking dish into the oven, and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
- Remove the baking dish from the oven. Top the wedges with chives or green onions, then serve.
